“Money Mamas” Mom’s Day Out

May 18, 2019

The Haven of Grace was proud to host our Spring Mom’s Day Out event on Saturday, May 18, 2019.  The theme of the day was “Money Mamas” and focused on financial education and credit health.

Mom’s Day Out is a biannual event that provides education, encouragement, and connection for Haven families across our programs.  This event specifically focuses on connecting with mothers in our 10-year Aftercare Program.  It is a chance for them to come together with current participants of our residential programs to learn, grow and share advice with one another.

The day focused on the theme of “Money Mamas” by featuring a variety of community partners.  Prosperity Connections provided individual credit counseling for each mom in attendance.  St. Louis Community Credit Union and Midwest Bank Centre provided information on savings options and mortgage plans.

This fun event also provided a chance to check in with our Aftercare families and connect them to resources available to them in our long-term aftercare program.  By completing program requirements (including attending Mom’s Day Out!), Aftercare families were able to access The Haven’s Earn While You Learn Incentive Program at the event.  This program provides much-needed household supplies, toiletries and other essentials to families in all stages of our programs.   (Learn more about the incentive program here >.)

While moms were participating in their program, their children were having a great day of their own thanks to childcare volunteers from Bonhomme Presbyterian Church.  Special thank you to these awesome volunteers who played games, rocked babies  and showed all of The Haven kiddos an amazing day full of love and fun.  We could not pull off events like these without partners like Bonhomme!  Thank you!
