Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to help the mothers and children who call The Haven of Grace home. Whatever your interests or abilities, we have an opportunity for you! Please contact Development and Volunteer Manager, Emily Wit at 314-621-6507 ex. 309 or ewitt@havenofgracestl.org.

Please note: The Haven of Grace is unable to accept individuals who are volunteering solely to fulfill a court order.

Committee & Leadership Opportunities

Help guide The Haven toward a successful future by sharing your knowledge and experience. Most positions include regularly scheduled meetings, once a month or less.

Babysitting

Help care for infants while their mothers attend class, plan structured activities for our toddlers and preschoolers, or get a group together and provide a Mom’s Night Out. Babysitters are typically needed 10 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Mondays or 6-8 p.m on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Group Volunteer Projects

Volunteer groups of up to 15 people are welcome at The Haven. Each group will be assigned different tasks depending on The Haven’s needs. To schedule your group, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at least two weeks prior to your volunteer date.

Classroom Facilitator

Teach the Haven residents in one of our seven focus areas: Housing, Physical and Emotional Health, Spirituality, Independent Living Skills, Parenting, Education or Employment.

Sorting Donations

The Haven’s garage is full of donations (clothes, household goods, furniture, and more) for the Maternity Shelter residents and Aftercare clients. Volunteers are needed to sort donations and organize them on our shelving units.

Gardening, Grounds & “Honey Do” Tasks

Roll up your sleeves and help maintain The Haven’s gardens and grounds. Plant flowers, pull weeds, pick-up litter, or help with other jobs like painting or spring cleaning.

Off-site Opportunities

You can also help The Haven by volunteering to host baby showers or diaper drives for us at work, school, church or with other membership organizations. Collect items that are necessities for The Haven’s mothers, infants, toddlers and preschoolers and drop them off at the shelter.
