POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the agency’s fundraising and marketing plan. This position supervises the Development Manager and is responsible for raising the funds necessary to achieve the Haven of Grace’s mission. This position is full-time, salaried and exempt.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following ethical fundraising practices and procedures,

  • Participate in development and monitoring of annual budget for Haven of Grace
  • Develop and implement annual fundraising and communication plans and monitor for achievement of goals
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies that include individual donors, fundraising events, corporate and foundation support
  • Mentor, develop and supervise staff (Development Manager and Development Intern) and vendors as appropriate
  • Provide effective support for volunteer and board committees
  • Participate as an active member of The Haven’s leadership team and develop a culture of philanthropy within the organization

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

  • 3-5 years non-profit fundraising; major gifts experience preferred
  • Experience with donor database management, including analysis of reports to propel action
  • Experience working with non-profit boards and high-level donors and volunteers
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • Team player, team leader, collaborator
  • Highly positive approach and enthusiastic style capable of motivating others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project management and planning skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft and Outlook applications

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most of the work for this position is performed under normal office conditions.  The employee will need to travel to meetings and conferences and transport clients, donors, volunteers and others in personal vehicle and upon submission of proper documentation will be reimbursed for mileage at current agency rate. Employee must be present at all specified events and is required to have reliable personal transportation.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily, as well as possess the skills and meet the demands outlined in this job description and core competencies.

This position is currently budgeted for an annual salary up to $50,000-$55,000 contingent upon experience and proven fundraising results.
