Eunique Completes ROW Program

When Eunique moved into The Haven of Grace’s shelter program in July, she didn’t realize that such a large network of support would be waiting for her.  The Haven benefits from partnerships with several local organizations that are working to set young mothers up for success.  One of The Haven’s longest-standing partnerships is with Redevelopment Opportunities for Women (ROW) and Family Forward.

Each young mother at The Haven of Grace is asked to enroll in the ROW program during their time in the shelter.  The 10-hour group class promotes increased economic security, physical and emotional health, and hope for the future.  The classes cover core financial literacy topics including budgeting, credit, banking and investing.

“I enjoyed the Credit Matters section of the class,” says Eunique.  “It taught me all about credit – how to build credit, how to find my credit score, and other things like that.”  The holistic community approach to the class had an impact on Eunique as well.  “They even taught us how to notice the signs of a child being abused or neglected, which is helpful for all of us to know.”
